On Tuesday, October 13, I hosted A Conversation With Nick Shirley to a sold-out crowd at Carl Purdy Hall in Ukiah, a few miles from where I grew up and where I got my first reporting job at the Ukiah Daily Journal.
The night was about citizen journalism and civic engagement: how we can re-engage young voters, help our rural communities thrive, and hold our leaders accountable.
Thank you to Julie Golden and all the amazing volunteers, our sponsors, to Drew Nichols and Carter Lane of Like It Or Not podcast, to Nick Shirley, and to everyone who came out on a Tuesday night.
Below are my full remarks from the evening, for paid subscribers. Your support is what keeps UNWON going.
