Finally! The government in DC is protecting farmers and ranchers from the government in DC. Round and round we go.
One branch of the state persecutes and prosecutes us, and another branch of the government comes to our aid. It's crazy! We see the same situation with the Eel River dam removals.
My understanding is that one of the dams has structural damage. Is that repairable?
My irrelevant vote is to keep thise dams so the farmers, ranchers, and other people (say the entire city of Ukiah have enough water. A hundred years is a long time. I hope the dams can be retained and the fish population can be fully restored and the communities thrive. This shouldn’t be all that hard but it is.
James, PG&E could have kept the dams and spent $20 million upgrading the dams, turbine generators, etc., but that would have cost the shareholders $20 million. They couldn't pass on the costs, $20 million, to ratepayers.
CalTrout is the main NGO promoting dam removal. For some crazy reason, their donations have gone from $7 million to $28 million in the past 8 years. I don't think that the new money is from fishermen.
“They couldn't pass on the costs, $20 million, to ratepayers.”
Why not? That’s just chump change! James Clendenning wrote “Looks like PG&E supplies electricity and natural gas to about 5.2 M households in the northern 2/3 of the state.” That’s $4 per household, not including commercial ratepayers. There is something malicious here.
PG&E is a corrupt organization. A falling high-tension power line started the fire in Paradise, CA, that killed dozens of people. The steel hook that held up the thick Aluminum cable rusted out and failed due to a lack of maintenance by PG&E. PG&E cut back on maintenance to pay big bucks to the CEO, executives, and shareholders of the stock. The woman CEO declared bankruptcy for PG&E after the Paradise Fire. She then took a $7-12 million golden parachute and fled to Venezuela, where she is no doubt living in luxury.
That is a very large increase in CalTrouts funds for sure. Be good to know where that’s coming from. Be good to know who PG&E Shareholders are. There’s over 1000 institutional investors, Blackrock, Vanguard and JP Morgan Chase are among the many top investors. A lot more to look into there. Also be good to know what projects PG&E has going and coming up as well as CalTrout (Hetch Hetchy? and several others). Looks like PG&E supplies electricity and natural gas to about 5.2 M households in the northern 2/3 of the state. Things to think about.
Excellent! I hope that any legal expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
And lost work, product, any help they had while trying to deal with this crap.

I grew up in Humboldt county and am aware of some of these issues.
It seems that some of the stakeholders are worried about the fish. This problem has been solved on the Baker river in WA.

Thomas, I heard about the $20 million costs, etc., on the California Insider YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjVFB_x7W2Q

Justice!
Amen 🙏🏼
I am so happy to read of wrong being made right.
Excellent. Now go after the miscreants in government they did this to them and countless others. If they aren't fired and sued this will continue.
Firings are definitely in order.
Amen Bless you all💕🙏🏻💕
