Now if the Trump administration would only do something about the theft of Central Valley (CA) farmer's land and water....the prior administration was consistently driving farmers and ranchers out of business...if this goes on we will be in a famine here in the US...Trump needs to overturn some of these heinous regulations put on those who grow the nation's good

I am very happy that they are no longer facing charges. Remember though, this administration is in no way shape or form friends of ranchers, farmers, or anyone in agricuture except perhaps big buisiness. Evidently ICE hasn’t raided either IBP or Tyson’s processing plants.

I hope they get 100 more years at least out of their place. We all need them. Yay!

Thank you for stating this. There are so many things that need to be addressed and this reminded me of how great we are doing but how far we have to go. Stay vigilant America. Pray, participate and press forward. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Seems to me that the Biden Administration wasn't friends in any way shape or form or this wouldn't have happened at all. What makes you think Trump is the one that doesn't care? If he didn't this frivolous lawsuits wouldn't have been dropped.

Trump has been using the carrot and stick approach with government employees as well as with tech companies. I suspect he is doing the same with big ag companies in regard to them adhering to immigration law. Said companies choosing to adhere to the law is probably the best option for the American people and for Trump.

My understanding from people that have worked in IBP and other reporting is that they do not adhere to the law and that those infractions are not enforced. For example they know when they are going to be inspected and for what. If Trump wants to go after immigrants he could have ICE walk in there and kidnap most of the crews. From local reporting that has not happened, or anything remotely like it.

I agree it’s best for everyone generally if the laws are adhered to. In this case it appears that neither Trump or big ag is adhering to the relevant laws.

It might depend on the sector. I knew a farmer that hired illegals but only if they had enough papers or documentation for the farmer to claim ignorance, his illegals passed e-verify (presumably) using forged documents. A case against such a person would take a long time and a lot of resources to build. A friend of mine with experience in the dairy industry said that at the first hint of a raid or sometimes even just a visitor the illegals would just scatter to the wind. That they always had just enough paperwork and numbers to cover the dairy farmer but that the workers wouldn’t come back once they fled so proving it all would take some effort.

If Trump stages simultaneous raids tomorrow of all the major packers it’s likely to shut down the entire industry for an undetermined amount of time just like what happened during Covid, maybe worse. That will raise consumer prices and probably run more than a few family farms out of business. Raising consumer prices and destroying American agriculture isn’t going to do much for Trump’s numbers and it might give hold outs in the legislature enough votes to really muck up his plans. I would imagine instead he’s promised the big companies increased subsidies or something else beneficial in return for him looking the other way while they fix their staffing situation. Once the big guys have their ducks in a row (almost assuredly with legal migrant labor) then Trump will send ICE in to raid a couple of the smaller guys for the optics.

Trump has to prioritize and prioritizing the gangs and cartels and other violent offenders makes sense because the outrage against it looks insane. Start crashing the ag industry and the other side looks more reasonable. However people don’t have a long attention span and if big ag doesn’t play ball Trump can wait until there is some other big distraction and then crush them with ICE raids when doing so isn’t political dynamite.

Your description of the small farmers jives with what others have reported to me. I am certain that big ag has or will cut some deal with Trump to prevent being shut down, if they can. Given the lack of due process and transparency we have zero knowledge of how many gang members and cartel operatives have been arrested. It appears from reliable media coverage that the majority of people being picked up and placed in ICE detention centers, and being deported to other countries are innocent of any crimes. This is an exact parallel to what Hitler did prior to WWII.

The tarrifs alone will destroy many farmers and ranchers. The loss of the Chinese markets has severely damaged Soy and Pork producers

Loss of labor due to “illegals” not being able to work because of fear of deportation will hurt the farmers as well.

Big ag may survive this, many of the little folks in our decimated and dwindling population of family ranches and farms will not. A tragic loss.

Great news! Another case of the government causing the problem and the government "solving" the problem. I'd like to see the Forest Service bureaucrats who prosecuted the Maude family sent to Fairbanks or Nome, Alaska.

What happened to adverse possession laws? Many Western states have 10 year rule…the fences went unchallenged by the Federal government FOR DECADES. Scary!

What I'd like to know ... Why did Noem allow this to go so far in her own state? Probably the same reason those 'green' companies have been allowed to misuse Eminent Domain to take over farm/ranch land to build 'green' CO2 reclamation facilities.

I sure hope the folks that brought this bs case of overreach of the government pay the price by being let go of their work duties asap. Did “the hunter” ever get named? This case is full of corruption locally and even nationally. Disgraceful this family had to deal with this crap.
