Cal Trout single-handedly kept the county where Scott Dam and Lake Pillsbury are located from a seat at the table in talks to take over the Potter Valley Project from PG&E.
Someone needs to investigate the Board of Directors at Cal-Trout. What might someone gain, personally, by supporting the project that will diminish property values by destroying the water supply to over half a million people in Lake and Sonoma Counties?
Always follow the money. The "grass roots" organizations of yesteryear have grown. With that growth, comes the iron law of institutions. Here is the origin story: https://caltrout.org/50th/timeline
The growth of these organizations is predicated on weaving a web of political connections, and that's where we see the conflicts of interest grow. Any sort of "united front" will have power struggles, and organizations change their criteria accordingly.
In this instance, we see where the leverage is being applied. When we remember that everything costs and everyone pays, the correlation between money and power reveals itself.
Yes, politics makes strange bedfellows, and the analogy is that there is such a thing as a PTD, which is the analogue to an STD.
When we follow the money, it tracks back to the reins of power. This has been demonstrated to me as true in business and in politics; they amount to the same thing in this regard, it's always only and ever about the money.
Thank you for continuing to make clear the situation with the Potter Valley project and the blatant disregard for the county of Lake by Cal Trout and others!
It is truly ludicrous that PG&E is using the excuse that this project is costing them money when in fact, they are posting profits of two point plus billion dollars a year in profit to their stakeholders.
It certainly is a glimmer of hope that the bureau of reclamation is looking into this situation and it would appear that the actual repairs to the dam and infrastructure are much less than what it will cost for the demolition of the dam. Of course of at most importance is the loss of available and reliable water supplies not just to the pot of community but to all of the other downstream communities that currently do benefit from that water supply.
Thank you again for all of your efforts to keep everyone well informed!

You're right over the target, J L.

Paid for by USAID?
My gut feeling, an environmental group located in a big city is of no practical use.
It appears to me that Cal-Trout is discriminating against the local Indian Tribes.
The CalTrout budget has tripled since 2021. I smell a rotten fish:

CalTrout sounds like a criminal organization.
